Church Street Traders Association including Capuchin Yard

Don't be put off by the narrowness of the entrance from "High Town" which is at the side of "Accessories" next to "Marks & Spencers" (or exit MS's through their side entrance). Alternatively after visiting the "Tourist Centre" in King Street" you are ideally placed to visit "Hereford Cathedral" after which, your quickest rout to "High Town" and the centre of Hereford is straight down "Church Street", (naturally calling at the shops as you got) and don't forget to visit "Capuchin Yard" which is located halt way down on the left hand side (approaching from the Cathedral end of Church Street)
STEP INTO HISTORY. Have your cameras ready when you visit "Church Street'. This is one of the oldest and most picturesque parts of Hereford and since being pedestrianised and repaved in recent years it is now possible to take a leisurely stroll along it's cobbled street, admiring on the way the mostly 17th Century buildings of which a number are Grade II Listed. If architecture is you interest you will certainly find it worth your while to explore the interiors of many of the shops where you will find exposed oak beams and other historical features. Don't miss the "The Old Mayors Parlour" (currently used as an art gallery housing frequently changed exhibition of the work of local artist), with it's carved beams and moulded ceiling, once lived in by a 17th century Mayor.

The "Kemble Gallery", once the home of Roger Kemble, father of John Phillip Kemble and Sarah Siddons, now houses "The Society of Craftsmen". Church Street

WHO ARE WE? We are all independent traders with shops in Church Street and Capuchin Yard. All the shops are privately owned and in many cases staffed entirely by family members. In the age of the big multinational this type of shop is becoming a rarity. Visit us for something different. Each shop is a unique entity reflecting the interests and varied tastes of it's owners.
WHAT WE OFFER. The Independents can still offer personal service. We like to discover our customers needs, and hopefully fulfil them. We are able to build a good working relationship with supplier and customers alike. This means that we are in an ideal position to make special orders, searching for that item that has eluded you for so long. Those businesses which make hand made goods (and there are many in the street, particularly Capuchin Yard) have designers on hand, ready to make items to commission.
WHERE ARE WE? It is not uncommon for life long Herefordian. To ask: "Where is Church Street"? Perhaps you may know the street by one of it's other, frequently used names; "Church Lane", "Capuchin Lane" or as some prefer to call it; "Cabbage Lane" What ever name you prefer to use, we are here.
